The introduction to sourdough course is a truly hands on class where you will learn to make, maintain and use your own sourdough starter.  Master the techniques for kneading, stretching, shaping, proving and watch your bread rise as they bake in our ovens.

For people who have a passion for baking this course aims to teach and give you the confidence to be able to produce your own bread at home.  Held in small groups of up to ten people with exclusive use of our bakery.

We aim to teach you how to make your own sourdough starter and explain with hands-on tutorials how to make a selection of breads including:

- White sourdough loaf

- 100% rye loaf

- Pizza

All participants will have the opportunity to bake two loaves, pizza for lunch and everyone will be given a white sourdough loaf in their banneton to bake at home.  You'll leave with all you need to bake your own sourdough at home - a course booklet, sourdough starter, a lame, banneton and even a scraper!

The course is run by Clare Barton, owner and head baker at the Bakehouse at 124.  As a former Ambassador for the Real Bread Campaign, she is extremely passionate about sourdough and would love to pass on her knowledge so that you too can make your own bread at home.

Full day course including a selection of pastries on arrival, lunch and refreshments plus sourdough kit!
